The Social Reckoning writer and director Aaron Sorkin raised eyebrows on Wednesday after he showed up to the London premiere of his new film with a strikingly dark tan.
The 65-year-old filmmaker, who won an Oscar for writing 2010’s The Social Network, inspired merciless trolling on social media, with users jokingly comparing him to the perpetually tanned George Hamilton and an overcooked chicken.
Sorkin attracted attention with his new look while posing on the red carpet with The Social Reckoning stars Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Sorkin’s representatives for comment.
‘Social Reckoning directed by… George Hamilton!?!’ joked one poster in the comments of Sony Pictures UK’s Instagram post featuring a video of Sorkin with Madison and White at the premiere.
‘The George Hamilton tan is back baby,’ another person joked.

Others took the opportunity to craft puns about Sorkin’s new look. ‘Aaron Sorkin? More like Aaron Sore Skin from all the tanning, am I right?’ read one comment.
Another poster dubbed the Oscar winner ‘Aaron scorchin.’
Another commenter joked that Sorkin looked like an overcooked dinner.
‘My wife gets upset when I overcook that chicken that color,’ they wrote.
The users poking fun at Sorkin couldn’t seem to decide if it was funnier for him to have gotten a natural tan or to have opted for a tanning bed.
‘He did not have to hit the beach that hard,’ one person joked, while another suggested: ‘The tanning bed has ensorcelled him.’
Some posters even suggested that Sorkin’s new appearance could launch a wave of Halloween costumes.

Sorkin is returning with his follow-up to The Social Network 16 years after the original’s release.
He wrote the screenplay for the Jesse Eisenberg-starring Oscar winner, while David Fincher handled directing duties.
The original film charted the chaotic creation of Facebook and co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s rise to prominence.
Sorkin had for years expressed reservations about writing a sequel focusing on more recent developments with the social-media behemoth without Fincher agreeing to return to direct.
The new sequel focuses on the 2021 Facebook leak, in which a whistleblower, played in the film by Madison, released internal company documents that revealed that Facebook was aware of the social harms caused by its platform.
Rather than attempting to ameliorate the issues, the documents indicated that Facebook had avoided making changes in favor of shoring up its profits.
Amid a PR campaign in response to the disclosure, Facebook’s changes amounted to scrapping a planned Instagram for Kids feature and changing its company name to Meta.
