White House Correspondents' Dinner: Donald Trump is out; Sarah Huckabee Sanders is in

President Trump, who remains very much at war with most of the media, is skipping the second White House Correspondents Dinner of his presidency.
In a statement issued via Twitter Friday morning, White House Correspondents Association President Margaret Talev said that they’d been informed that the president would not participate. But unlike in 2017 when the entire Trump administration boycotted the event, this year, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will attend and sit at the head table.
Talev also noted that while Trump would not attend, he would “actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment.”
Michelle Wolf is the second Daily Show correspondent in a row to host the annual event where official Washington and the media make nice, scheduled for April 28.
