Â
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is challenging his employees to a duel.
The avid hunter has installed a new arcade gun game — “Big Buck Hunter Pro” — in the employee cafeteria of the agency’s Washington headquarters that allows workers to take on their boss in a computerized video contest of marksmanship.
Here’s how the game is described by its developer Raw Thrills:
Engaged in head-to-head competition, players can hunt 8 North American Big Game Animals on 24 different hunting treks covering 120 challenging hunting sites. At the end of each trek, players will need to complete one of 24 challenging bonus rounds where players scramble to achieve the maximum amount of points while 36 different critters scatter across each hunting site
In a news release Tuesday, Zinke calls the “Secretary’s Shotgun Showdown …his latest initiative to reemphasize hunting and fishing at the Department.”
The former Montana congressman describes it as “a fun employee competition” with the winner earning the right to have a “Beverage on the Balcony†with Zinke.
The contest runs from Tuesday through Oct. 11.
Announcement of the contest comes only days after Zinke signed an order to expand hunting and fishing on federal lands. The friendly competition, he said, is designed to promote employees’ understanding and appreciation of sporting activities, “in turn furthering the department’s mission of wildlife and habitat conservation.”
“Some of my best memories are hunting and fishing with my dad and granddad, and then later teaching my own kids to hunt and fish,” said Secretary Zinke. “That’s something I want more families to experience.”
