George H.W. Bush greets people paying respects to Barbara Bush

Former president George H.W. Bush, heartbroken over the loss of his wife, greeted people as they came to pay respects to the late Barbara Bush on Friday.

George H. W. Bush was joined by the couple’s daughter, Doro, at the public viewing atÂ St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston.

“Former President @GeorgeHWBush with his daughter Doro paying his respects to his wife of 73 years, the amazing Barbara Bush, and greeting well-wishers there at St. Martin’s Church today,” Bush spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted.

The Bushes, who met at a Christmas dance in 1941, were married for more than 73 years. On the day she died, Bush was by her side, holding her hand, family spokeswoman Jean Becker said.

The former first lady died Tuesday at age 92.Â Her funeral is on Saturday.
