New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and the other presidential candidates are competing for endorsements but some are worth more than others, for personal reasons.

Christie in a visit to Annapolis received the backing

It goes beyond the “Hogan Strong” bracelet, however.

Hogan in a Facebook post two weeks ago said Christie “has been in touch with me almost daily to give me support” and said Christie had sent a text “to say he was thinking of me and praying for me” prior to Christie’s June 30 announcement that he is running for president.

At the endorsement announcement Wednesday, according to a transcript provided by the Christie campaign, Christie said of Hogan: “You’ve watched the real courage that he has shown as he is facing his own personal challenges. And never once complaining about anything. You know, he says I texted him on the way to my announcement, I did because I was thinking of him. He’s in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy, he’s texting back right back, like right back with his ideas, with his encouragement, with his support.”
