Boehner: Tea Party cashes in by targeting me

House Speaker John Boehner says Tea Party supporters who like to impugn him for not being regressive adequate are targeting him to make money.

In a corner talk with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell airing Sunday, Boehner defends his regressive voting record to Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes

“The emanate with a Tea Party isn’t one of strategy. It’s a feud over tactics, from time to time,” Boehner said. “Frankly, a lot is being driven by inhabitant groups here in Washington who have lifted income and (are) usually violence a dickens out of me.”

That strategy, Boehner contends, “works. They lift money, put it in their slot and compensate themselves large salaries.”

Boehner won a third tenure as House orator progressing this month, though 25 Republicans uttered objections to his care by voting for someone else. The Ohio lawmaker has pushed behind on his regressive critics before by touting a record and voting story that he says creates him “the most anti-establishment speaker

Asked by Pelley about how many Republican parties there are, Boehner pronounced there is usually one.

“And we continue to move those members along, and they move ‘em along,” Boehner said. “But it’s always a work in progress.”
