Jeff Bridges Has ‘Plenty’ Regrets About ‘The Giver’

Jeff Bridges spent 20 years building a big-screen instrumentation of “The Giver,” and eventually he had to give adult some of his control to get it into theaters. He starred in a film and acted as a producer, though he told HuffPost Live on Monday that a routine didn’t go totally as he’d hoped.

“It did kind of go opposite my fur a small bit,” Bridges said. “I mean, it only — it did.”

“It was formidable since we adore a book, we know, and I’d been by many, many scripts perplexing to get a book right, and we knew there were all these fans. And afterwards finally Harvey Weinstein said, ‘Oh, I’ll make that,’ though we knew removing Harvey concerned [meant] we was going to have to let go of my vision, since he had ideas,” Bridges said.

One of those ideas was casting Brenton Thwaites, an actor in his 20s, for a purpose of Jonas, who is 12 years aged in Lowry’s book. Bridges pronounced Thwaites did a smashing pursuit in a role, though he combined that casting an comparison actor went “against [his] notions.”
