Hawaii Beaches Are Dirtier Than You Think

Last week, a Surfrider FoundationCoalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawaii

Over 360 volunteers collected some-more than 15,000 cigarette butts, 3,426 pieces of cosmetic and 1,386 pieces of froth — among a many dirty equipment in a world, according to Surfrider coordinator Stuart Coleman.

The purpose for a clean-up — besides holding caring of a land — was to launch efforts to support statewide legislation for tobacco-free beaches and parks.

Lawmakers in Hawaii are now looking during House Bill 525, that would demarcate smoking and a use of tobacco, electronic smoking inclination and betel bulb products within a state’s park system.

“Currently, 3 out of 4 counties have upheld tobacco or smoke-free beach ordinances and we wish to keep building on those successes with statewide legislation to transparent adult inconsistencies opposite counties,” Jessica Yamauchi, a coalition’s executive director, pronounced in a press recover Tuesday.
