WASHINGTON – Fox News contributor Donna Brazile told Ronna McDaniel to “go to hell” during an appearance on the network Tuesday after the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee said the primary process is “rigged” against Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Brazile, who served as the interim head of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election, was shown a clip of comments McDaniel made earlier that day about the state of the Democratic primary race heading into the voting on Super Tuesday.
The RNC chief predicted Democrats were heading for a “brokered convention, which will be rigged against Bernie if those superdelegates have their way on that second vote.”
McDaniel was referring to the possibility of a contested convention if none of the candidates wins a majority of the pledged delegates on the first ballot, which would trigger a second ballot that includes superdelegates, who are comprised of elected officials and other party leaders.
Super Tuesday explained:Why is it so important? What’s a delegate? And what happens at a brokered convention?
“First of all, I want to talk to my Republicans,” Brazile said. “Stay the hell out of our race.”
Brazile said she was “sick and tired” of “listening to Republicans tell me and the Democrats about our process.”
She slammed McDaniel’s comments as “Russian talking points to sow division among Americans.”
“So, Ronna, go to hell,” she said, prompting host Ed Henry to interject with an exclamation of “whoa.”
“No, go to hell,” Brazile continued. “I’m tired of it, Ed. We are not trying to prevent anyone from becoming the nominee. If you have the delegates and win, you will win. This notion that somehow or another Democrats are out there trying to put hurdles or roadblocks before one candidate, that’s stupid.”
McDaniel responded to Brazile’s invective later on Twitter.
“It’s ok, @donnabrazile,” she said. “I’d be having a bad day too if my party was still hopelessly divided. Talk of a brokered convention and the DNC trying to stop Bernie obviously hit a little close to home.”

Like McDaniel, President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed the primary process is being “rigged” against Sanders, an assertion he also made during the 2016 election.
After former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg dropped out of the race, Trump tweeted it was “the REAL beginning of the Dems taking Bernie out of play.”
“They are staging a coup against Bernie!” he tweeted after Sen. Amy Klobuchar dropped out and announced she planned to endorse former Vice President Joe Biden. ‘
“They are scared of Democrats coming together to defeat Donald Trump,” Brazile said. She said instead Republicans should be focused on preventing “foreign intervention in our election.”
Brazile challenged McDaniel and Trump to produce evidence that the Democratic Party was conspiring to give an advantage to any particular candidate.
“Show the proof,” she demanded.
“I’m all about reconciliation,” Brazile said at end of her appearance. “It’s Lent, so I’m trying to keep my Karma. But stop lying about the Democratic process.”
