Last month Lee responded to critics who criticized him for creation a film about Chicago to “rednecks†from a South during a Civil Rights era.
“That sounds like those strikebreaker crackers in a South. When Civil Rights people come down to Mississippi or Alabama, ‘These waste rousers come down here,'” Lee pronounced during an coming on  “Windy City LIVE.â€
“And afterwards here’s another thing, people are saying, ‘You’ve never shown New York in a bad light,’†he added. “People are articulate things that have never seen my films. Go behind to ‘Clockers.’ ‘Clockers’ is 100 percent about black group murdering black men. But a lot of people are judging a film on a dual notation and 30-second trailer.â€
