It&#8217;s an unbridgeable divide between those who&#8217;ve reaped the benefits of global capitalism, and the rest of the country, which hasn&#8217;t #Tucker<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">President Donald Trump tweeted late Tuesday that he was \u201csaddened\u201d to learn that the ratings for Sunday night&#8217;s Emmy Awards telecast on CBS, hosted by Stephen Colbert, were not good.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Trump tweeted, \u201cI was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys last night &#8211; the worst ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s Tuesday night tweet was a little off: The show was on Sunday, not Monday, and the ratings didn\u2019t quite hit bottom, though they were close.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"1\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys last night &#8211; the worst ever. Smartest people of them all are the &#8220;DEPLORABLES.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"javascript:void(0)\">September 20, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Nielsen company estimated that 11.4 million people watched, slightly more than last year\u2019s lowest-ever audience of 11.3 million. But six markets in Florida have not reported, as Hurricane Irma is still holding up the process in areas that were severely impacted by the storm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Emmys are a Hollywood bubble show,&#8221; Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News. &#8220;Actors and directors get to pretend they are important because they are doing such insightful takes on life in America, when they have zero idea what life in America is for the other 330 million people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump added, \u201cSmartest people of them all are the \u2018DEPLORABLES.\u2019\u201d That\u2019s a reference to a remark Hillary Clinton made during last year\u2019s presidential campaign, when she said half of Trump&#8217;s supporters belonged in a \u201cbasket of deplorables.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\">The Emmys went head-to-head against NBC\u2019s<\/a> \u201cSunday Night Football,\u201d which presumably didn\u2019t help viewership, but the awards have now hit new ratings lows for three straight years.
