{"id":61599,"date":"2017-01-02T06:51:36","date_gmt":"2017-01-02T06:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/usa.timesofnews.com\/obama-to-meet-lawmakers-in-attempt-to-protect-health-law-2.html"},"modified":"2017-01-02T06:51:36","modified_gmt":"2017-01-02T06:51:36","slug":"obama-to-meet-lawmakers-in-attempt-to-protect-health-law-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usa.timesofnews.com\/breaking-news\/political\/obama-to-meet-lawmakers-in-attempt-to-protect-health-law-2.html","title":{"rendered":"Obama to meet lawmakers in attempt to protect health law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"article-text\"><br \/>\n<span id=\"midArticle_start\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"article-prime\"><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"articleLocation\">WASHINGTON<\/span> President Barack Obama plans to meet Democratic lawmakers in Congress next week to discuss how to protect his signature healthcare law from Republican efforts to dismantle it, a White House official said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span id=\"midArticle_0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Obama, who is leaving office on Jan. 20, will attend a meeting with Democrats from the House of Representatives and the Senate on Wednesday, the official said.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the session, Obama will warn Democrats that allowing Republican lawmakers to scrap the Affordable Care Act before proposing a replacement would create &#8220;chaos&#8221; in the U.S. healthcare system, according to the official.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>            <span class=\"article-divide first-article-divide\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress, have said they will quickly repeal Obamacare, but will delay the implementation of the repeal for two to three years as they develop a new plan.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>            <span class=\"article-divide second-article-divide\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Republican President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on a pledge to get rid of the 2010 healthcare law.
