Republican Gov. <a href=\"javascript:void(0)\">Greg Abbott<\/a> faces Democrat Gina Hinojosa, while Republican Ken Paxton squares off against Democrat James Talarico for a U.S. Senate seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">At the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, voters told Fox News Digital that pocketbook pressures are shaping how they view the state's future, with some predicting the reliably red Lone Star State will stay that way while <a href=\"javascript:void(0)\">others see an opening for Democrats this fall<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"><strong>REPUBLICANS JUST GOT A POWERFUL NEW PLAYBOOK FOR THE BATTLE FOR CONGRESS. HERE'S WHAT'S INSIDE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n  \n\n<p><span>Briana photo caption Briana, a voter from Garland, Texas, told Fox News Digital at the State Fair of Texas that she expects the Lone Star State to remain red, despite a potentially tougher political fight.<\/span> <span>(Amanda Macias\/Fox News Digital)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">\"I think we're going to struggle, but I think it will stay red,\" Briana of Garland, told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Mike and Cynthia, a couple from Houston, were more definitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">\"Red. It's going to stay red,\" they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Chris took that confidence a step further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">\"Hell will freeze over before Texas flips blue,\" Chris told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Patrick and Jennifer, of Dallas, shared that confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">\"Texas will always be a Republican state,\" Jennifer said, while acknowledging that Republican candidates will not win every race. \"But we still think it will stay Republican,\" Patrick added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Not everyone at the fair was betting on Texas staying firmly in Republican hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"><strong>WE ASKED AMERICANS TO GRADE THE ECONOMY. THEN WE ASKED IF IT WOULD CHANGE THEIR VOTE.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n  \n\n<p><span>Patrick and Jennifer, voters from Dallas, told Fox News Digital at the State Fair of Texas that they expect the Lone Star State to remain Republican.<\/span> <span>(Amanda Macias\/Fox News Digital)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Mary said she believes the Dallas-Fort Worth area is moving in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">\"It's definitely leaning more blue. Texas as a whole, I'm not sure,\" she said. \"I think if there would be an election that swings blue, it would be this one.
