Tom Steyer reveals he is open to having Republican cabinet members<\/a><\/h4>\n

Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer speaks with Fox News about the fractured Democratic party, which Republicans he would appoint to his cabinet, and what he would say to coal miners who will lose their jobs because of his policies.<\/p>\n

MANCHESTER, N.H. \u2013 Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer<\/a> accused nomination rival\u00a0Pete Buttigieg<\/a>\u00a0on Monday of\u00a0not being aggressive enough on the issue of climate change.<\/p>\n

Steyer, speaking with reporters while campaigning in New Hampshire,<\/a> was asked a question by Fox News about another rival \u2013 Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.<\/a> But he quickly pivoted to\u00a0the South Bend, Ind., mayor who was a popular target at last week’s primary debate\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 saying \u201cto me the question, which I asked Pete Buttigieg on the stage, is why don\u2019t you have a better climate stance?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c’You’re 37 years old. You know, you’re of a generation of people who understand this is the number one issue in front of us. Why aren’t you stronger on climate?\u2019 That to me is an absolutely critical question for him to answer,\u201d the 62-year-old hedge fund manager turned billionaire environmental\u00a0advocate <\/a>said.<\/p>\n

Steyer, whose signature issue is climate change, was referring to his jab at Buttigieg at last Thursday\u2019s Democratic presidential primary debate.<\/p>\n

Steyer \u2013 who vows to \u201cdeclare a state of emergency on day one\u201d regarding climate change if he wins the White House \u2013 was outlining the steps he\u2019d take to combat the global crisis when he turned to Buttigieg and said: \u201cI would call on Mayor Buttigieg to prioritize this higher because the people in his generation understand that this is a crisis that we have to go on right now but it\u2019s also the greatest opportunity to rebuild and re-invent America.\u201d<\/p>\n

BUTTIGIEG FENDS OFF ATTACKS FROM RIVALS AT DECEMBER DEBATE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Buttigieg \u2013 who along with Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Warren is considered part of the top-tier of four candidates \u2013 answered: \u201cI\u2019ve made clear that this will be a topic of day one action,\u201d before delving into specifics of the plan he’s unveiled to tackle climate change.<\/p>\n

Steyer has repeatedly touted that climate change is \u201cmy number one priority\u201d and highlights that \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anyone else running for president who will say that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked by Fox News if he was satisfied with Buttigieg\u2019s answer on the debate stage last week, Steyer said: \u201cNo. I don\u2019t think so. I don\u2019t think he responded to it directly at all. I think that\u2019s a fact.\u201d<\/p>\n
