Avengers: Endgame has just doubled the record for biggest opening weekend

How popular is Avengers: Endgame? If the largest marketing campaign for a movie ever wasn’t enough indication, how about this: it doubled the previous record for an opening weekend, which was set by Avengers: Infinity War last year. $1.2 billion across the globe in just five days also makes it the fastest movie to reach $1 billion.

As detailed by BoxOfficeMojo, Marvel’s latest movie has also broken a ton of other records (many of which were set by Avengers: Infinity War. Its estimated domestic revenue of $350 million is $93 million higher than the $257.69 million record set by Infinity War, and the international opening of $859 million is over $400 million higher than the previous record, which was held by The Fate of the Furious.

As we saw during the long lines for the opening show, this is one of the biggest movies in history, as everyone waits to see if the Avengers can reverse Thanos’ snap, and the numbers prove that, with the film taking over 90% of market share during the weekend.

Now that we’ve seen and reviewed Avengers: Endgame, our thought turns to what’s next for MCU.

We know the next film is Spiderman Far From Home, which is set after Avengers: Endgame, and that there’ll be a Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, as well as movies for Black Widow and Ant-Man. What comes after all of that, and how it fits into Marvel’s Phase 4 remains to be seen.
