When the Essential Phone launched, it was a hard sell at $699, but ever since the price dropped to $499, it’s become a more tantalizing proposition. Now, Best Buy is discounting the device even more in a bid to help boost sales of the struggling upstart.
Best Buy’s site lists the device at just $449, which is $250 off the original price. Considering the competition that’s out there, the Essential Phone’s price is hugely compelling. It’s cheaper than the OnePlus 5 and much more affordable than the iPhone X, which starts at $999.
When we reviewed the Essential Phone shortly after its launch, we liked the phone’s gorgeous design and approach to software. However, the camera wasn’t up to a par, although Essential has released a number of updates that have improved the camera’s quality.
The Essential Phone probably isn’t your first choice when shopping for a new iPhone, and I completely understand. But at $449 (or $499 elsewhere), this deal is almost too good to pass up. Although Sprint is the phone’s official carrier partner, it will work with ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile as well.
If you do purchase the Essential Phone, you’ll get 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3040mAh battery, Snapdragon 835 chip, 5.71-inch QHD display, and a 13-megapixel dual camera setup. The device also offers a modular pogo pin system that allows users to connect accessories to the device.
