After saying it would investigate the issues affecting the Pixel 2 XL’s display, Google this week confirmed it plans to issue software updates to ease concerns about the screen’s quality. On top of that, the search giant said every Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will come with a 2-year warranty worldwide.
Google’s Mario Queiroz acknowledged the growing chorus of complaints voiced by Pixel 2 XL users, saying it takes reports of this nature very seriously. On the topic of the screen displaying muted colors, Queiroz reiterated Google designed the screen to feature a more natural and accurate rendition of colors. But it knows people want more.
“Based on the recent feedback, we’re adding a new mode for more saturated colors, which will be made available via a software update to both Pixel 2 phones in the next few weeks,†Queiroz said.
The new display mode will come in addition to the Pixel 2’s vivid mode, which Google said is designed to boost colors by 10-percent.
The other more concerning issue brought up by Pixel 2 XL owners was screen burn-in, which some users have noticed is already occurring after just a few days of use.
