Batman: The Animated Series is finally coming to Blu-ray

The details otherwise, though, are sparse. There’s no word on whether or not the show is being remastered for 4K screens or just 1080p. The show was hand-animated and captured on film, so there’s definitely room for it to look better in full HD. Ultra HD, though, might be overkill. We also don’t know how the company plans to package it. If it’s 1080p, it’s conceivable they could fit the whole series on a couple Blu-rays. But Warner Bros. is a publisher, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company try to split the series up over season-specific discs.

It’s also unclear whether the discs will include just the original 85-episode run, or if the company will release the 24-episode New Batman Adventures as part of the set as well, which was billed as a 4th season on the original box set, which was released in 2004.

Either way, this is great news for Batman fans, and we’re already anticipating next fall, when we’ll be able to get our hands on it and re-watch the still-gorgeous show in all its glory.
