ATT on Thursday announced the BlackBerry KeyOne will be available through the carrier beginning Friday, September 1. The device will be available on ATT Next for $16.67 for 30 months, which comes out to roughly $500.
Featuring a full QWERTY keyboard, Android 7.1 Nougat, and a 4.5-inch display, the KeyOne is very much a device from a bygone era. Smartphones with physical keyboards went out of style a long time ago, making the KeyOne a relic in a touch screen world.
Not that the KeyOne is a bad device—on the contrary. But with competitors like the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, and (soon to be) iPhone 8, the KeyOne is aimed at a very specific audience.
To sweeten the launch, ATT is offering the KeyOne is Space Black, which will be a color exclusive to the carrier.
The KeyOne has been available in the U.S. through Sprint for weeks, and today’s news makes the TCL-made device that much more accessible. Even if there are no expectations for the KeyOne to outsell devices like the Note 8, it’s nice to see wider carrier support.
