Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will set up the MCU’s next 10, 20 years

Literal decades

The next “10, 20 years,” you guys. He just said that like it’s a thing and we all know it already. That’s a huge amount of time and suggests a movie that somehow ups the ante over even the huge stakes of Guardians 2, which had the team fighting a literal planet.

It’s time to start guessing at what that could mean. In the comic book version of the story Avengers: Infinity War is pulling from, we see all kinds of cosmic beings brought in, like manifestations of Love and Hate, Order and Chaos, and Eternity itself. The sky’s the limit for the Guardians, and what they could kick off is literally limitless.

The movie will hit after the next two Avengers films, meaning we’ll see the Guardians again in 2020 at the very earliest. The movie is tentatively scheduled for 2021.
