HTC U11 now receiving a much-requested update

HTC has released a new update for the squeezable U11 in Asia and Europe. The upgrade bundles the usual plethora of bug fixes and stability improvements, as well as support for something the Taiwanese company promised to introduce earlier this year: Full HD (60fps) video recording.

We don’t know when exactly the OTA will start rolling out in the United States. HTC seems to think it will arrive within “a couple of months,” but American carriers are notorious for slouching on the update front—so if you want to avoid disappointment, expect it to be with you by the end of the year.

Earlier this month, HTC announced that the U11 will be the first smartphone in its range to receive the much-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update, which is set to transport compatibility for not only program-in-picture (PiP), notification channels and adaptive icons, but also Bluetooth 5.0.
