Google is testing a toned-down version of its immensely-popular Search application in Indonesia; it’s called Search Lite and was designed to serve information faster in markets plagued by slow internet.
The features available in Search Lite are mostly the same as the regular Search client. Users can find information, access Google News and view the local weather—all from the splash screen.
This news comes less than a week after Google started testing YouTube Go, a less-intensive version of the standard YouTube application, in India and a handful of other emerging markets.
