The year’s breakout indie success, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is roaring through the gaming industry with impressive sales figures and an obvious lasting impression similar to what Rocket League saw a few years back. Everyone is playing, and if you’re not, then you’re a total square…
…like me.
So far, 7 million copies have been sold worldwide, and the game isn’t even out of Steam Early Access yet. It took less than a month for it to sell its most recent million copies, with the 6 million mark being reached on July 30. Word of mouth is obviously helping a lot.
And as for concurrent players, it is seeing roughly 600,000 at a time over the last 24 hours. It has shattered blockbuster games likes Fallout 4, has set a speed record for reaching its current levels, and it clearly has Counter-Strike’s 850,485 player record in sight.
