The leaked HomePod software just keeps on giving, and now it has given up the secrets of the iPhone 8 home button.
The latest leak out of the HomePod software revealed a lot of secrets about the facial recognition feature of the iPhone 8, but now we’re moving down to the bottom of the screen. Developer Steven Troughton-Smith took to Twitter on Wednesday evening and revealed that the home button can be resized.
We know some facts re iPhone 8 home button area:
• it resizes
• indicator can be hidden
• no API to change color
• tab bars extend under it— Steve T-S (@stroughtonsmith) August 10, 2017
The “periphery†area of the iPhone 8 will expand and minimize as needed as well as show and hide the home button. There was also no indication that the home button will have an API that would allow app developers to have any control over it so you can expect it to be a uniform experience no matter what you’re doing on the phone at the time. Full-screen video, however, will hide the home button.
One has to wonder just how many more secrets are going to be uncovered before Tim Cook takes to the stage to unveil the iPhone 8. At this rate, one can’t imagine there will be much we don’t know by that point.
