Titanfall 2 should have sold better, says Respawn, will be back for a third game

While most were expecting Titanfall 2 to arrive and make a dent in the multiplayer gaming scene, not many were expecting it to leave behind such a memorable single player campaign. Still, the word about its quality started to spread upon release, but sadly, not quite far enough.

According to Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella, the head of the game’s development, it actually came up short of what all parties involved were hoping for.

The game was successful, it sold well, but it didn’t quite sell as well as it should have. Maybe because it was super-crowded, the pricing was aggressive–it was a rough window to launch our game.

Many pointed out to EA and Respawn that the game was launching awfully close to Battlefield 1, another shooter carried a lot of momentum throughout the year. But EA insisted that they wouldn’t cannibalize one another’s sales.
