We already got a glimpse of the Google Pixel 2, and a new set of images appear to confirm our worst fears: Yes, the Pixel 2 will feature massive bezels and no 3.5mm headphone jack, but there is a silver lining.
We can glean a few key details from the images, which were revealed by GSMArena. First, it appears the Pixel 2 will feature a more rectangular design, closely resembling the Nexus 6P when viewed from the front. That includes dual front-facing speakers, a feature that’s becoming increasingly rare among high-end flagships.
Second, the Pixel 2’s glass back panel appears significantly smaller. It makes for a sleeker, more visually pleasing look. The fingerprint sensor is still present, while the camera lens looks larger than the one offered by last year’s Pixel.
“The in-hand feel was reportedly better than the original Pixel, sleek and elegant,†GSMArena wrote.
Rumors surrounding the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have picked up in recent weeks, suggesting an announcement is just around the corner. Not to mention Google has slashed the prices for the original Pixel smartphones by up to $200.
If you’re looking for a more elegant design, the Pixel 2 XL will reportedly feature an edge-to-edge display, bringing it on a par with today’s biggest flagships. With Android O expected to launch before the end of summer, expect Google to unveil its new Pixel devices soon.
