If LG’s upcoming V30 doesn’t have a secondary display, is it really a “V†device at all? That’s the existential crisis the upcoming handset will go through once it’s unveiled on August 31.
If a freshly leaked image from OnLeaks is to be believed, the LG V30 will look nearly identical to the LG G6, which isn’t a bad thing. But because of the bezel-less display, it doesn’t appear there’ll be room for its most unique feature.
In addition to my previous #LGV30 leak, just a little extract from its user manual… pic.twitter.com/6UYjBHwv4I

OnLeaks shared an image of the device supposedly from a user manual. Because it’s just an outline, we don’t really get a full understanding of what the device will offer. It’s possible the secondary display is still there, we just can’t see it in the drawing.
However, a report from AndroidAuthority claims LG is indeed ditching the secondary display in favor of a “floating bar,†though it’s unclear what the new feature will do. A source reportedly indicated the feature would provide quick access to shortcuts and notifications, AndroidAuthority said.
What’s unfortunate is that the V20 was one of last year’s best devices because of its sleek form factor and secondary display. If that feature does disappear, it’s unclear how LG plans to differentiate the device from other flagships on the market.
Previous reports suggested the LG V30 would feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 3,300mAh battery, and a dual-camera setup.
