It was only a matter of time before this day arrived: Nextbit has officially shut down support for the Robin smartphone.
Nextbit broke the news website with an abrupt popup, which you can see in the image above. The company says if any of its users are in need of any future assistance, they’ll have to settle for the self-help section in the Nextbit website or receive help from Robin users through Razer Insider. Razer bought Nextbit earlier this year in a move that hinted the end of the Robin.
The move seems to provide some insight into Razer’s interest in creating its own smartphone. Now that the Robin is out of the picture completely, will we see a Razer smartphone some time in the future? That’s what the rumors suggest.
Regardless of Razer’s plans, it is a sad day. It truly was unlike any other phone when it was first announced at CES in 2016 with its cloud-first operation, quirky design and pastel colors.
Let’s pour one out for the Robin and remember it fondly.
