Galaxy Note 8 now one step closer to its release

The much-anticipated Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950F) has been spotted on the Federal Communication Commission’s online database, which is usually the final pit stop a new smartphone makes before it hits the shelves in the United States.

If recent leaks are anything to go by, the Galaxy Note 8 will ship with a 6.3-inch Infinity Display, an Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 processor, a complex dual-camera setup (Monochrome and RGB), an S Pen and at least a 3,300mAh battery.

Considering the Galaxy S8 sports near-identical specifications, we’re not sure the minor cosmetic changes and S Pen-related software optimizations Samsung is set to introduce with the Galaxy Note 8 warrants the alleged $1,100 price tag.

We’d be happy to shell out the extra cash if the firm was able to perfect the optical fingerprint reader it’s been working on, but according to people familiar with the matter, it ran into some major technical difficulties and consequently scrapped its plans.
