Anthony Scaramucci to media: Leave my family alone

Anthony Scaramucci, the White House’s new hard-hitting, foul-mouthed communications director, delivered a stern warning to the media on Saturday via Twitter: Lay off the family.

A day after a New York newspaper reported that Scaramucci’s wife had filed for divorce, citing his “naked political ambition” as the grounds for the split, Scaramucci took to Twitter and implored reporters to keep his family’s business out of the press. 

“Family does not need to be drawn into this,” the Mooch tweeted Saturday morning. “Soon we will learn who in the media has class and who doesn’t. No further comments on this.”

It was the second day in a row Scaramucci had turned to Twitter in what appeared to be an attempt to address the report of his martial strife.

“Leave civilians out of this,” he tweeted Friday. “I can take the hits, but I would ask that you would put my family in your thoughts and prayers nothing more.”

The report first surfaced in the New York Post’s Page Six, which, citing multiple unnamed sources, said Deidre Ball filed divorce papers after three years of marriage. Efforts to independently confirm the Post’s story were unsuccessful. USA TODAY has reached out to Ball and the Scaramucci family for comment.
