PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds getting paid cosmetics based on Battle Royale

If you somehow didn’t figure this out or know about it already, sit down and brace yourselves. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is based loosely on Battle Royale, an aging Japanese flick with a similar premise. Now, the game will pay homage to that inspiration with a set of cosmetic DLC.

The cosmetics will come in the form of crates, and three new ones will be inspired by Battle Royale. The first and second crates (Wanderer Crate and Survivor Crate) will be free, while the third, the Gamescom Invitational Create, will cost actual money. You’ll need a key for $2.50 to snag it.
