BMW drivers will now be able to hold meetings right from their car with Skype for Business.
The news was revealed by Microsoft announcing the integration of Skype into BMW’s iDrive infotainment system. Drivers will be able to access Skype’s services through notifications for meetings. This will make it possible to log into conference calls without needing to dial in through complicated extensions.
To make accessing Skype even more seamless, BMW is adapting better integration through Microsoft’s Exchange service that includes calendar, contacts and to-do lists.
“We seek to continuously extend and enhance the customer experience with regard to all aspects of their mobility,†stated BMW vice president Dieter May of the news. “The integration of productivity features in-car (like Exchange and Skype for Business) and personalized and contextual services will help customers with their day-to-day work and planning while they are on the road.â€
This is a continuation of Microsoft and BMW’s budding working relationship. BMW was an early adopter of Microsoft’s Office 365 into its cars last year.
BMW’s Skype for Business will first be available in France, U.K. and Germany before expanding to other countries, including the U.S. There’s still no word on specific dates as to when it will be available.
