Russian lawyer: I’ll testify before Senate about Donald Trump Jr. meeting

The eighth participant at Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with a Russian lawyer has been revealed.

The Russian lawyer who met with Donald Trump Jr. last year said she would testify before the Senate in order to “clarify” what had happened during the meeting, the Associated Press reported.
“I am ready to clarify the situation behind the mass hysteria, but only through lawyers or testifying in the Senate,” Natalia Veselnitskaya said in an interview with RT, the television network funded by the Russian government, according to AP. “If the Senate wishes to hear the real story, I will be happy to speak up and share everything I wanted to tell Mr. Trump.”
Last week, Veselnitskaya was revealed as the lawyer who met with Trump Jr. in June 2016. Per emails released by the eldest Trump son, Trump Jr. believed he would receive incriminating information about Hillary Clinton during the meeting.
In addition to Veselnitskaya and Trump Jr., six other people were present at the meeting at Trump Tower. Special counsel Robert Mueller is now reviewing the meeting.
In previous interviews, Veselnitskaya has denied connections to the Kremlin. She also denied having any information on Hillary Clinton and said she did not know why Trump Jr., along with Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, believe they would receive damaging information about the DNC.
“I’d like to talk to her,” Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., told reporters Wednesday. Warner is the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
