It seems that Kylo Ren is following in his beloved grandfather’s footsteps a bit more in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The first images of Kylo Ren’s new TIE Silencer – AKA Sienar Fleet Jaemus TIE V/N Space Superiority Fighter – made their debut on The Star Wars Show on Wednesday. This was quickly followed up by images of the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Hot Wheels that will be on sale at the show this week.

The new TIE Silencer clearly takes inspiration from the TIE Interceptor first seen in Return of the Jedi, but it also has a bit of a feeling of Vader’s personal fighter, the TIE Advanced x1, which made its debut in A New Hope. The Interceptor influence is clearly noticeable in the wings, while the Advanced’s influence is seen in the section behind the cockpit.
We won’t know until the movie is released this December how much of a role the TIE Silencer will play in the story. It could just be a mode of transportation for Ren, or we could actually see him engage in a dogfight. Perhaps the space battle we saw in the first trailer? There’s just no way to know yet.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
