HTC U11 Alexa update has finally arrived, but with caveats

Much to our surprise, Alexa on the U11 works the same way as it does on an Echo. But instead of toggling the assistant by saying “Alexa” like you do on household units, you’ll need to say “HTC Alexa.”

As you’d expect, the Alexa application can be used to control smart home devices, purchase items from Amazon and receive answers to knowledge-based questions, though there are a number of restrictions.

Bad news: Alexa can’t place calls

For example, it isn’t capable of requesting directions in Google Maps or placing calls — so it probably won’t be your assistant of choice when you’re on the move. It should prove to be particularly useful around the house, however.
