The race to release for Gran Turismo Sport has been a long and tough one, but the checkered flag is in sight. The latest entry in Sony’s long-running racing franchise finally has a release date, and it seems like it might actually happen this time.

We’re almost there

“Following the successful completion of our Closed Beta phase, as announced earlier this week, we are now entering the final stages of polishing as we prepare for launch,” wrote Polyphony Digital president and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi in a post to the PlayStation Blog this week. Yamauchi says we’ll see news regarding exactly which tracks and cars will be included with the game between now and release, as well as information about the campaign mode and creative tools.

In addition to the standard edition of the game, Sony will also be selling “Limited” and “Digital Deluxe” editions for $69 and $79 respectively. The Limited edition includes eight cars and a bunch of digital goods, while the Digital Deluxe edition includes 12 cars along with a slightly different collection of goods.
