The Nintendo PlayStation has been fixed

While it sounds like a Freudian slip or something an ill-informed parent would call their kid’s console in the 90s, there once was a Nintendo PlayStation. Sort of. Nintendo and Sony got together in the early 90s to create a Nintendo console that played SNES cartridges and games on CD-ROMs.

That partnership fizzled before the hardware ever went commercial, but a prototype Nintendo PlayStation was created in that time. It was lost, broken, recovered and, finally, working. The folks at The Ben Heck Show got the hardware working on that old Nintendo PlayStation over the course of a year of sporadic repair sessions.

Where are the games?

Since this was just a prototype, no real games ever made it to a playable stage. However, homebrew devs have been hard at work creating some software specifically for this now fixed Nintendo PlayStation.

There are no games yet because they don’t work on the running console (software problems, not hardware). Those games will come soon enough.
