So, I played Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition here at PAX East 2017. I was rusty at first, killing with skill but not in the way I was able back in 2011. I remembered that you had ridiculous abilities like leashing enemies, slamming them onto the ground and then firing them up into the air for a round of skeet-shooting. Yep, that’s still there, complete with points earned for crazier kills.
The points you earn from killing are the economy in the game, so it actually pays to get creative and wild with your gameplay methodology. Don’t just run in treating this like a shooter, because you’ll suffer. You need to look towards your environment and use it to your advantage to get crazy kills worth tons of points.
This creativity in an FPS is sorely missing from the marketplace of AAA shooters. You normally have to turn to indies to find this stuff. I love indies, but big-budget games simply feel different. Bulletstorm is a big budget game with an indie mentality, and I missed the crap out of it.
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition hits the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 7. If you missed the game the first time around, you’ll need to check it out.
