iPhone 8 USB-C port not happening, analyst says

Kuo said that all three of Apple’s new iPhones, which we expect to include the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8, will still employ Apple’s Lightning port. That means we won’t get the benefits of USB-C, which offers faster data transfer speeds than Lightning in some cases. But all is not lost.

Kuo said that Apple is planning to add fast charging technology to the new iPhones, which means we’ll finally get a feature that’s been available in various forms for almost every Android smartphone on the market today.

Well, I’m bummed

While that’s a welcome change, I’m a bit disheartened to hear that Apple isn’t including USB-C. It’s about time the company adapts a standard instead of requiring all sorts of dongles for its proprietary tech, and it would have made perfect sense for transfers between its USB-C-compatible computers. Guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.
