A recent report from DigiTimes claimed Apple’s new iPads will be available this summer, which is typically the timeframe we see new Apple tabs. It’s unclear if these new devices will come with the company’s rumored Pencil refresh (Apple’s stylus), something reports say will borrow heavily from Microsoft’s Surface Pen.
In addition to new iPads, Apple is also expected to debut a new red color to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, along with a 128GB option for the iPhone SE. Apple sold a record number of iPhones last quarter, but with no new models expected until this fall, it seems company wants to keep interest high in the interim.
It makes sense, because Samsung, LG, and several other Android manufacturers are expected to unveil new devices in the coming weeks. Without introducing a complete refresh, Apple can make its lineup feel new with a new color here and expanded storage there.
It’s nearly March, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any Apple invites that go out. With Mobile World Congress around the corner, I’d expect Apple to send something out around then.
