Zelda from the 3DS team in dev for Nintendo Switch? “Definitely a possibility,†says producer
Look, the Nintendo Switch is clearly getting a marquee Zelda title at launch with Breath of the Wild. The thing about that game, as astounding as it looks, is that it looks like a big departure from the top-down approach to the franchise a lot of us fell in love with.
Game Informer shares that sentiment, and they asked Series Producer Eiji Aonuma if the 3DS Zelda team (the one behind A Link Between Worlds) was at work on a 2D-style Zelda for the Switch. Here’s how Aonuma responded.
“Yes, there is definitely a possibility…
…There are definitely good things about the 2D world and the playstyles of the 2D world… There are a lot of fans who enjoy that style. This Nintendo Switch style, which is the evolved style of gameplay is not necessarily… I want you to think of it more as an evolved style of 2D style. For the 3DS team, I am trying to make them think in a more evolved 2D-style approach.â€
A little bit of both worlds sounds good to me
