As someone who loves video games, I want to support brick-and-mortar game stores. There aren’t very many left aside from GameStop, and even GameStop is struggling in the shadow of the colossus named Amazon, just like so many other businesses. I like going in and browsing, but stuff like this bugs the crap out of me.
GameStop makes a lot more money off things like used game sales and bundles than they do off of new games and consoles, so it’s in the business’s best interests to do things like this and to push their employees to sell used games even if it means lying about new stock.
With the system having been so hard to find, the deal was a tempting one even at that inflated price, but I decided to check out some reviews of that Nyko Miniboss controller first. If user reviews are any indication, I wouldn’t have been getting an extra controller with my system, I would’ve been paying an extra $20 for some plastic. I guess I’ll keep waiting.
