I love that Guerrilla Games went from Killzone to Horizon

I’ve just never been all that interested in the world or lore of Killzone. Its tone is more generic than I’d like, and its lore’s always been more muddled than clear.

Guerrilla likely could have kept going with Killzone after Shadow Fall. Their next title could have just been another game in the series. Instead? This month, Guerrilla Games will launch Horizon Zero Dawn.

Aside from that ridiculously cliché video game name, everything about Horizon Zero Dawn has me stupid excited. We have a completely new IP, a new hero, a new world, new lore, new creatures and, well, new everything. Horizon Zero Dawn is a from-the-ground-up new video game from a developer that’s done nothing but Killzone since 2004.

The game features a world flung far in the future. Humanity’s been felled to an almost neanderthal status as robots grow sentient and form the world of wildlife around them. Players will play Aloy, a female warrior, hunter and archer discovering the open space and surviving against machines large, small, kind and aggressive.
