Google just announced the chart toppers of its Google Play Store for the month of January. The list is filled with a lot of new faces.
After a long three-year wait, Sherlock finally returned for its fourth season this past January and naturally it shot up to the top of the TV shows list. The BBC series, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, had been on hiatus since season 3 aired in 2014. Hot on the heels of Sherlock was It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (season 12) and The Walking Dead (season 7), who placed second and third respectively.
On the music side of things, The Weeknd topped both the Purchased Album and Streamed Songs chart with Starboy—the title of the album and the lead single off the record. Released back in late November, Starboy dominated the charts initially and has continued that success into January. J Cole’s Your Eyez Only and Bruno Mar’s 24K Magic also place well on the list.
The Ben Affleck thriller The Accountant topped the movie chart while EL Jame’s book Fifty Shades Darker saw a reemergence with buzz picking up around the movie adaption coming out later this month.
