Nintendo is trying its darndest to look like everyone’s friend so it doesn’t find itself isolated and squeezed out of the fray like it did in the last generation. So far, third-party publishers seem pleased, and the company no longer comes off as a fossil when compared to the modern approaches of its competitors.
Yet, Nintendo still has a bit of a way to go. Online deals, subscription plans, the horrendous prizes behind My Nintendo. We’re getting there, but some old habits seem hard to shake off. 70 publishers, 100 games, none of it matters if you’re online services seem dated.
We’ll get there, Nintendo. I promise. Just one foot in front of the other!
