Mass Effect: Andromeda will not have cross-play or dedicated servers

How much did you play Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer?

Mass Effect is one of my all-time favorite video game franchises. Yes, even to an old-timey JRPG nerd like myself. When Mass Effect 3 came out, I tried the multiplayer because I was a dedicated fan at the time and found that I liked it a lot. Using Salarians, my favorite of the alien races, was a dream come true, and I enjoyed burning through characters and sending them into the main game.

However, now that I think about it, it was also my first game with a “crate” system. Ugh, crates… they’re the reason I stopped playing Overwatch. They always make your goals during holiday events seem so far out of reach. It’s kind of soul crushing when you’re unable to reach Mei’s special costume, and then it vanishes forever because you couldn’t save enough credits in the short, allotted time frame.

That’s the standard practice in games, though, so I guess Mass Effect: Andromeda will be featuring them as well.
