The Main Street Electrical Parade is back at Disneyland! Bring on the nostalgia
Disney’s most popular parade, the Main Street Electrical Parade is back at Disneyland Park after making a worldwide tour across Disney Parks. The last time the Electrical Parade made its way down Disneyland was back in 1996, and at Disney California Adventure in 2010.
The iconic “Baroque Hoedown†is one of those songs that exemplifies “earworm†and you walk away humming along to the synthesized track.
The Main Street Electrical Parade has had over 3,600 performances since its original run, performing in front of more than 75 million guests. Floats have been added over the years and it now features more than 600,000 lights across 22 floats. It also features 27 characters across 7 films. My favorite has to be the 16-foot tall, 38-foot long, 5,600-pound Elliot float from Pete’s Dragon. There’s something magical about that float with its smoking nostrils and his ability to disappear.

There’s just something magical about listening to Baroque Hoedown as the lights dim on Main Street, USA. You wait to see the glowing parade floats turn the corner; when it finally gets to you, you just feel it. The lights, the music, everything hits at the right moment and you can’t help but feel happy.
The Main Street Electrical Parade is scheduled for a limited run, nightly through June 18. So check it out before then.
Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure
The Disneyland Resort is also celebrating the Lunar New Year in a big way. Now through Sunday, guests can celebrate the Lunar New Year by taking part in new entertainment offerings like “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration†prior to World of Color. There will also be live performances by musicians, Chinese acrobats, and Mulan’s New Year Procession which features umbrella dancers, martial artists and dragons.
Of course, any great cultural event has to have great food. The new offerings for Lunar New Year food offerings were delicious and are close to authentic. The chefs behind the creations spent months consulting with cultural advisers to gain their seals of approval.
The Lunar New Year celebration is running now through February 5 at Disney California Adventure Park.
