First we heard rumors, then we saw concepts. Now, we’re seeing physical Galaxy S8 parts, suggesting the device’s arrival is just around the corner.
Based on what we’ve seen thus far, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will feature screens with virtually no bezel. The recent renders supported these reports, and new pictures posted to Twitter this week adds further corroboration.
As you can see in the images below, the front panels curve at the edges and are essentially bezel-less, providing more screen real estate without sacrificing on size. Along with the minimal bezel, we could see Samsung eliminate the home button, something that’s been a staple of the company’s devices for years.
As a replacement, we could see the Galaxy S8 adopt software buttons, while embedding the fingerprint sensor underneath the display. There have been several rumors claiming Samsung would make this move and it sure looks like they’ve been right all along.
It’s difficult to say whether these panels are legit or not, but based on what we’ve seen and heard, they’re likely the genuine article. At least, we’re certainly hoping they’re real.
Samsung is reportedly going to announce the Galaxy S8 during or near Mobile World Congress at the end of next month, so we should know more soon. At this rate, however, Samsung might not have much to reveal.
