As people continue to group to gyms and aptness clubs as 2017 gets underway, a range is reminding residents they have consumer rights underneath Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act.
The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services says this is a time when gyms and aptness clubs offer tantalizing financial incentives like giveaway passes and time-sensitive promotions for classes and memberships.
And for those who do confirm to make a joining to a gym or club, it’s critical to remember they are entitled to a 10-day cooling-off period
“You have a right to cancel a gym membership within 10 days of receiving a created duplicate of your contract, but providing a reason,” a method states in a news release.
“All we need to do is give notice to a business, preferably in writing. Use this 10-day cooling-off duration to exam out a trickery to see if it’s right for you.”
The method says it has dealt with some-more than 1,110 gym- and aptness club-related complaints and inquiries between 2015 and 2016. The many common topics enclosed agreement cancellations, billing disputes and a 10-day cooling-off period.
