Lady Gaga Skips 2026 VMAs After Welcoming 1st Baby With Fiance
Fans waited with baited breath to see whether Lady Gaga would attend the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards after welcoming her first baby — and sadly, she skipped the event.
Gaga, 40 — who was nominated for two awards this year, Best Dance and Best Art Direction for her and Doechii’s “Runaway” music video — didn’t walk the red carpet on Sunday, September 27, seemingly choosing to stay home and nest with her growing family.
The awards show, held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, came just a few weeks after news broke that Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky had become parents.
Multiple outlets reported on September 17 that the “Poker Face” singer gave birth to a baby girl named Rose Bean Polansky on June 9.
Gaga’s daughter was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to her birth certificate.

Gaga sparked speculation about her foray into motherhood on September 11 when Page Six published photos of the Grammy winner holding a baby while walking with Polansky, whom she’s been engaged to since 2024.
While neither Gaga nor her partner has publicly confirmed their little one’s arrival, the singer has been open about wanting children for years.

“I want to do more movies, I want to have babies and I want to continue to build the behemoth that is Haus Laboratories into the makeup company of my dreams,” Gaga said in a December 2019 YouTube video, outlining her 10-year plan.
The Joker actress — who was romantically linked to Polansky that same month — has since shared how she expected her life to look once she was in fact a first-time parent.

Gaga told Howard Stern in July 2025 that she didn’t think her career would change too much — but her children would always come first.
“Disappear? I don’t think so. But look, I think music will be a part of our child’s life,” she said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show when asked whether she’d step back from the limelight after expanding her family. “I also have to see what it’s like and what our kid needs, you know?”
Gaga explained, “I just really want them to have a very safe and happy childhood, so you’re not wrong that that will become my No. 1 priority. You’re actually right on the money with that.”
